Tinctures are concentrated herbal formulas made by soaking herbs (dried or fresh), in alcohol. The alcohol pulls out the active botanical constituents of the plants leaving behind a concentrated liquid, which is then taken in small doses(drops). If someone is avoiding alcohol completely then you should refrain from using tinctures altogether unless it's made with glycerin instead.
